I'm considering a position in Istanbul (Kadikoy) to start in September and am concerned/nervous about finding accommodation, as I have usually been offered it as part of the package. I have experience of flat hunting in various places too, and it has been downright stressful! I hate the thought of it to be honest, as I like to settle into a place and job as soon as possible! I will be getting an accommodation allowance (which won't cover the full cost, but at least it will help) A room in a shared flat sounds like the best way to go. I like company anyway!

I would be grateful and interested in hearing about experiences of flat hunting - How long did it take to get settled, is deposit usually required and where to look? If anyone has any leads or contacts, that would be great too!
