|
|
This company is total Bullsh*t! Anyone who calls about a travel package gets snookered into talking about a "travel & teach package" (Usually China)
and if you bite, they then tell you that you absolutely MUST have their TEFL certificate in order to teach in China!!!!!
First you do NOT need a TEFL certificate to teach in China, and even if you did, their certificate is not acknowledged nor accepted anyway. But, get this... If you go for the deal they "will give you at no extra charge" a guaranteed teaching internship! So generous eh?
In case you have not figured it out yet, they give the client a real teaching job that they could have gotten on their own at full salary. Instead they take 50% of the salary and pocket it as their "placement fee" and if the client asks why the other teachers are getting paid double, they simply say "They are teachers and you are an intern for six months!"
And why the Fu*k do they need 3 companies to scam people? Isn't one enough?
I found a bunch of complaints on-line like these that link to even more complaints, and even more complaints but yet they don't seem to be running out of bait nor new fish to fry!

I thought exactly the same thing.
There is some merit in discussing the likes of i-i and the type of training package that they sell, but in sensible forum discussion rather than the sensationalist style that includes links to silly blogs and other sites.
Alternatively we could just report i-i to the Chinese Foreign Teachers Union and they can deal with them. |

The point is that this group has been ripping people of since 2007 (according to online complaints buried on page 18-30). They are blatantly lying to people ("You MUST have our TEFL certificate to teach in China') and they are using fake testimonial reviews and paid shills to back up their "great success".
Also according to scam.com and realscam.com and ripoffreport.com they created 3 different entities and many phony online travel agencies as well to bait people. http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2442245
Most despicably their telesales people have targeted the unemployed and even elderly people on fixed incomes telling them they can earn "small fortunes" teaching China. Every ESL teacher who ever worked in China knows this is horseshit. These scammers need to be shut down no matter how beautiful and expensive their website may be. http://www.realscam.com/f8/warning-i-i-com-onlinetefl-com-scam-history-buyer-beware-2586/
They also operate under the name of OnlneTEFL.com (Websites are owned by same person and same address and telephone numbers are used for off-shore company in U.K.). Some of their telesale people are calling from Thailan, others from the Phillipines, and some from the U.K. http://www.tefl.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=6031
They registered with the BBB in America so they can say "We only have one complaint with the BBB in all these years" but the BBB does not track nor record complaints from companies outside the U.S. But check ChinaScamBusters.com and all three of their scam entities are blacklisted. See www.ChinaScamBusters.com for all the China scams relating to teaching in China.
Since I started the OP I have found 27 complaints online about this group and 12 broken links indicating someone is being paid to remove negative comments. |

^ Sounds like you have a V for Ventteda.
But really if your goal was to come on here and make 2 posts slamming a company then I would say your mission has been accomplished.
But posting on Daves won't correct your past with them - you need to take your fight ( or smear campaign) to governmental regulatory agencies who might actually have some empowerment - here you just look like a fool trying to overstate a point. |

I guess you see no value in warning your fellow teachers? If you looked at this company's glamorous web site and believed the smooth talking sales people on the phone, most people would actually believe they are legit and you absolutely must have their TEFL certificate to teach in China. Would you rather spend $999 to find out both are outright in-your-face lies? |

I had no problems with the company. My TEFL certificate was obtained through them in 2004 and the help I got was excellent. They didn't tell me I needed their certificate to teach in China and they did not offer me any packages or jobs here.
The qualification has helped me obtain work here as the schools I applied to stated they needed someone who has a TEFL certificate and the i-i was good enough.
I know of other people who also obtained the certificate and who are happy with the company.
Maybe you just had a bad experience and think that everyone has the same problems or you are just trying to get revenge. |

|
|
I've found several online TEFL Certificate courses. The cheapest "versions" of each one all seem to be right around $200.
Which ones are recognized in China? Is one as good as another?
If I pick one, I'm definitely getting the "basic" $200 job. The more expensive ones have long, fancy names, and probably don't mean anything more in China than the basic ones.
Thoughts? Experience? |

Hopefully " my fellow teachers" have enough common sense to know they don't have to spend $1000 to get a job in China |
