I will be starting at Salalah College of Technology soon on a contract signed through TATI. It is a family contract but I haven't received any clarity about the procedures for getting myself AND my family over to Oman. Ideally I want them to come with me when I go but I'm nervous that somehow it will be chaos upon arrival and my family will be put through hell. Will there be anyone to meet us at the airport? What happens when we reach Muscat? What about finding accommodation in Salalah? There seems to be no schedule or game plan whatsoever. Just sign the contract, wait for the air ticket and go... then... oh yes, your family... Is there anyone here who has had experience taking family with them to Oman?

Do a search on TATI in the Oman forum. There are plenty of issues others have posted and discussed.

welcome to the Middle East my friend.

You might want to print out that quote from yourself and paste it somewhere relevant at work and home to keep you sane in the coming months/years. Wink

That is my experience too. I brought my family with me and it worked out. You just have to go with it, which is very hard to do with a family. It might be better to have your family wait a couple of weeks so that you can get your house/apt set up. It took us a month to find a place we liked, but we stayed with some friends we know.
