I have been offered a summer position with both of these places and don't know which to choose. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of either?
PLUS - 400 p/w for 36 hours teaching +acc. and board (I know, it's alot! Of hours that is!)
Stafford - 315 p/w +acc. and board(15 and 30 hours per week 'depending on the needs of the centre at any given time')
I know its only a summer position but I want to make the experience as painless as possible (even though I know there will be some pain, given the nature of the job!)
Any advice would be great.
Thanks! |

stafford house is linked with the CATS college chain. play your cards right, you might be able make the contacts to get into the college full time. they have fairly large ESL departments.
i haven't worked for them, just seen the kids and staff around. seemed ok. |

I'm three weeks into working in Stafford House, now in my second location. They're very busy during this time, the staff are professional and efficient, it's hard work but fulfilling too. The hours are long and there's some stress involved in keeping up with the daily changes to schedules and activities.
Fortunately I have a fair bit of experience to call on so it's physically been demanding but I'm keeping my head above water. Everyone here has been really supportive and will help if/when you have questions. |
