I work at a SEP university.

With the new education reform, my school requires me to get a "cedula" for my university degree, which I earned in Canada.


The university requires it, but doesn't know how to do it (for foreigners). So any info/advice is greatly appreciated.

I did find the appropriate SEP forms on the SEP website, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any personal experience with this or any advice.

I think Freddy knows. It's going to be a major PIA, even Mexicans take months to get through the process.

I never went through the process. From what I remember, it requires you get your degree(s) apostilled and translated by a perito traductor. You then submit them to SEP and they evaluate them and give you whatever the equivalency is for a Mexican degree, including the cedula. It can take months, if not more than a year, and costs thousands of pesos to do it.
I never did it because the school I worked at never asked me for it nor required it. At my new school, I wasn't asked for anything either.

I'm going through some additional training in English teaching through a local institution now and will eventually go through the CENEVAL process to get a licenciatura in teaching English which will be officially recognized by SEP. Probably not the fastest way to do things, but I got time and nobody's rushing me, plus I got funding for the training so in the end it will end up much cheaper for me.

It is a nightmare. Like Freddy, I started the process but didn´t follow through. Ask your school if they will accept, instead, a SEP recognized Teacher´s Diploma, which most will. I ended up going that route and it was less expensive, possibly less time consuming, I met some neat people and even learned a few things along the way. You can probably get a SEP diploma in the same time frame as getting your current diploma SEPized.
