Just wondering if anyone knows places that hire teachers under shorter term contracts - 3-6 months?
Looking at either Abu Dhabi/Dubai at this stage.
Have an MA TESOL and many years experience at college level.
Thanks in advance guys. |

Contracts for university positions are generally for 2 or 3 years---short-term contracts would be cost prohibitive from a business perspective. However, there are full and part-time teaching opportunities available, but those positions go to local hires and are usually minus any benefits. |

Abu Dhabi University did that for a while. Don't know if they're still doing it, tho. |

ADU stopped that some years ago. The requirements for a work visa mean that it is cost prohibitive for the employers to do this... which is why they always local-hire people who are already there under a spousal visa.
This part of the world doesn't provide short term jobs.

The British Council sometimes has short-term contracts, usually in Qatar or for summer schools in various countries in The Gulf. |

Don't short-term contracts go to folks on spousal visas? Are you on a spousal visa? I don't think academic employers would hire anyone on a tourist visa. I don't think that an educational institution would spend the time doing a visa for a short-term contract. |
