I would like to know the best neighborhoods for a single mom with one child. Keep in mind I do know about bangna samut prakan but being single in wanting to date I don't really want to be in the suburbs. I am wanting to be close to nightlife but also family friendly areas as well. Is there a trendy area or neighborhood suggestion in which I could find both.

Quiet in trendy 15-20 minutes from downtown

or quiet neighborhood in downtown like
Lumpini comes to mind has a great park for kids in walking in its near condos looks quiet and trendy.

rama 9
ekaimai

any other suggestions

You will find that most areas of Bangkok are nice for families....Lumpini Park area is fine but do stay away from Soi Ngam Duphli area near Sathorn Road as it has a bad reputation and is known by the locals as the "Farang Skid Row" being a cheap area for backpackers. All in all I would say that Bangkok (including its suburbs) is quite family friendly and you should be safe there there with children. Good luck! Smile

I think Phra Athit street in Banglamphu is relatively safe. The hotels range from the cheapest you will find to inexpensive or medium. It's also centrally located and has buses going directly to shopping malls and the Northern Bus terminal as well as buses going to the BTS. It's as centrally located as you can get and is packed with cheap restaurants (some outdoors) that are good quality.
