Hi All,
I have read a few posts regarding "paid recruiters", and recall they are not preferred over directly applying to the organization.
I am an American staying in the Philippines for good and am having trouble having the schools accept this. They seem not to understand this. I have indicated I will do the expense of going back to the USA for a Work Permit stamp then pay to come back to Asia.
So, I am becoming a little frustrated and do not want to keep dipping into savings.
Is there a RELIABLE RECRUITING service one can pay that will find employment teaching?
Thank you all. |

Hi nomad,
Sorry about that. I imagined recruiters handle several countries but if needed, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, China.
Thank you. |

I seriously hope you are not giving money to "recruiters" and just hoping they will get you a job. If they already have your money, they have no reason to do anything. They might not even be "recruiters", rather, some dude in Nigeria with absolutely no contacts and no intention to make any.
If you are having problems with the recruiters you are paying, it's probably because you are paying them. Never pay a recruiter. They are paid by the employer. Always.
You're most likely being scammed. Recruiters work for schools, not you. Apply to as many free ones as possible and chose the job that is the best for you. |

Also, I am confused by this. Why would a school care where you live, as long as you can get your docs? |

Hi Big Worm,
Nice hearing your input. I have not given any money to such recruiters as yet only because of the warning you just gave me.
As I stated, just getting a little frustrated here.
I had the same logic as you. As an example, China sent a Letter of Invitation stating my country as USA. I informed them I would be in the Philippines before they sent it. So I tried the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines and they would not accept it.
Thank you. |

Then consider directing your questions to those country-specific forums for more exposure. |

I am an American with resident status in the Philippines. Had no problem getting a number of offers from Chinese schools. Applied for my Z visa at the PRC Embassy in Manila - no problem - got the approved visa in 3 days. The key here was 1. having the school specify the Manila embassy as the processing entity 2. showing the Chinese embassy that I had Philippine resident status. |

@Kimo50,
Thank you. I actually am not a permanent resident in the Philippines but I did tell the school to list the country as Philippines.
Thanks for the tips. |
