Hello all. I am currently searching for EFL work in Mexico. I have searched many threads but can't find what I am looking for. Can anyone provide a list of public and private universities that hire EFL Instructors. I do understand that this could be a long list, but I am just looking for about 10 to 12 colleges nationwide, and the ones that have the best reputation/pay. Or a website with a list of unis and colleges in Mexico would also help. THANK YOU in advance for any info you can provide. |

Mexico is a very varied country. What type of place would you like to live in?
You can start by looking here.
http://rankings.americaeconomia.com/2012/ranking-universidades-mexico/index.php
or here
http://www.universia.net.mx/universidades
I've met foreigners working in a wide range of universities around the country. There are some that only hire native speakers, there are others that only hire Mexican citizens, some require you to join a union, many do not. Some have a mix of natives and non-natives and sometimes there are tensions between the two groups, sometimes not. Some offer full time, salary positions, others will expect you to work on a class hour basis from semester to semester with no guaranteed minimum number of hours. Most will want you do to an in-person interview. And hiring is often a case of who is in the right place (there) and the right time (the day before the semester starts!)
The ANUPI (Asociación Nacional Universitaria de Profesores de Inglés) conference is later this month. That would be a good place to do some networking.
