Hi I would appreciate any accurate information at all. I have zero at this point.
What I have to offer is: I have taught ESL internationally and I have also taught photojournalism at the college level.
I love teaching both and am therefore open to what the need may be in Japan.
Most of what I am seeing offered in Japan is grade school for which I am not qualified. Are there universities which might be interested in either of the above mentioned.
I have a Master's terminate degree and about 5 years or experience teaching ESL with TEFL certificates. My resume for photojournalism is quite good as well. thank you ahead |
There are many previous threads here on qualifications necessary for teaching EFL at Japanese universities. You might want to start by skimming through those.
What is your master's degree in? Most places will want it to be in a related discipline (usually TESOL or Applied Linguistics; some places will also accept a master's in education, though it might depend on your specialization).
Other things that many universities will want is Japanese language ability and publications. There is variation, and sometimes lack of one can be compensated for by the other, but these are usually included in evaluation criteria.
Check the JREC-IN and JACET sites for university job postings, which will also list the requirements.
I don't think there is much need for teachers of photojournalism. If you can teach it in Japanese, there might be more chance you could get such a position, but even then I think it'd be slim. |
