Have been away from Istanbul for 5 years now, and recently I have been reading a number of posts that appear to indicate that pay levels have not gone up much, or may have even gone down. Exclamation

I never got less than $2000 dollars from schools such as ISTEK and Eybolu(?) back in 2003 to 2008. My last job was at Bilgi Uni and I got paid 4,000 T.L plus $500 housing support and full privet medical care.

From what I am reading too many out work native speakers have flooded the market and driven rates down. Sad

Am I wrong what's going on. Confused

Nope. What you said is pretty much correct. Pay rates have been falling and the price of living is rising.

Or in my case at my so called "institution" the good salary has remained steady but admin. continues to eat away at the benefits.

"Sorry but the Rector has decided that you don't get these days off any longer". Oh yeah, one more thing, we are shortening your lunch break, etc. in total disregard of the contract terms.

Of course in true Turkish fashion this is simply announced after a bogus input session with the teachers and feedback is not encouraged or appreciated. As a matter of fact if you have a negative reaction to these announcements Teacher Services can become downright rude.
