I'm no expert on Vietnamese law, but I would've expected there to already be laws that allow a police officer to use deadly force if they genuinely had their life threatened.

But perhaps a better solution to the claim that police officers get attacked so much would be to find out why. I suspect it's not "criminal gangs" as they claim that are doing the majority of the attacking. More likely otherwise law-abiding people going about their business who aren't willing to give into extortion. I'm sure we've all seen numerous videos of an ordinary looking person attacking a traffic cop after a routine stop.

Your 3 year old blog link isn't 100% accurate. Some of those photos are from China. In fact, China still has an annual dog meat festival.
