Is it better to buy a laptop and digital camera in the US and bring it to Japan or vise versa? I know I can get a good deal on a digital camera here, but I don't know if they will all work the same in Japan. |

You can use laptops and digital cameras from the US in Japan. Prices are probably better in the US too and you'll be guaranteed to get an English manual. Check about warranties though because you may not be covered if you take it overseas, so check first. |

Is it better? Depends on you.
Can you read Japanese? You will need it to use most Japanese computers. And, the keyboards are slightly different, too.
Warranties on Japanese computers are not valid outside the country, so if you plan to take it home, you won't get service.
Do a search on this site (or go to www.gaijinpot.com) and see what others have discussed on these issues. |
