Hi All-
this post is for U.S. citizens who have dealt with filing U.S. taxes combined with foreign income in the same tax year:

I have an extension until Oct. of this year to file my 2012 tax return, which is a combination of U.S. earned income and 4 months of income in Oman. I have been out of the States for 332 days but am having problems filing online and getting the foreign income exclusion.

In Asia, I was always able to find a CPA who worked directly with expats in reporting their foreign income, to avoid any mistakes. I wondered if anyone in this forum could recommend someone to help me?

I refuse to pay the gov't one cent on my foreign income and lose my U.S. return after I deliberately stayed out of the country for over 330 days.

Anyone with info. on someone who may be able to help me this side would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and yes I did attempt to take care of this during the very short time that I was in the States last week. I was surprised to find nobody available with exception of H&R Block, who I will never use in the States again.

Thanks in advance for any helpful responses here. I'm currently living in Muscat, Oman.

Don't do it online... do it on paper and mail it in. Your situation isn't in the norm and I suspect that the online programs won't be able to deal with it.

Did you get permission from IRS to use the 2350 extension (making the 330 day rule in effect) or did you just use the 4868 extension meaning that you will owe taxes on the Oman income?
