I am about to start my first kindergarten teaching job. Can anyone recommend some good sites for resources and ideas?
It's a general KG teaching job rather than teaching them English. So I need ideas for songs, games, art and craft activities, etc.
Thanks. |

There are plenty of resources on the Internet; do a search on teaching kindergarten resources. Additionally, there's the Cafe's teacher discussion forum (http://forums.eslcafe.com/teacher/). |

Can you share a bit more? Are they English-speaking children? Or are you teaching K-immersion in English?
Anyways, I have a lot of resources but they are specific to teaching ESL to K. If that is of use to you, I'll post them. |

I wonder if any of your resources would work for me. I work part-time with a 3 and 5 yr old. They are basically fluent in understanding English, but need to learn to speak it. |

For 3-5 years old, most children's simple picture books will work well (I have my own 3 year old and we use a lot of truck/constructionn materials).
Teaching Children English (Vale) is a solid book, craft-based.

http://www.anglomaniacy.pl (forgive the silly URL)
What language do they speak? I also know some great bilingual series (French).
Baby Genius Youtube channel is great as well, it has all the classic songs, some of which are quite repetitive and haunt my dreams, but excellent for reinforcing rote memory without the dullness. |

Firstly, nomad soul thanks for the link to the teachers forum, when I come to Dave's I always come to this forum and forgot about the teacher's forum Will have a good look there now.
I will be working in Slovakia and assume the children all have Slovak as their native language. They are are aged 3-6 and in two groups - one with "little to no English" and one with "more advanced English". It's a very small school so only about 6 in each group.
I know there are lots of KG websites and I had a look at some songs and some of them were truly awful. If that's what kids like fair enough but I'll start off by having a look at the sites recommended by santi |

I also recently picked up Children Learning English by Moon. Love it! |

Hi Santi,
The children I work with speak German as a native language. I don't think I want to use anything bilingual. Most of the bilingual stuff they have here for kids their age is too simple anyway.
Thanks for the websites. I had heard of the Polish one. It looks good. I'll check out the other one, too. I do read them the English books they have and I hope to get more books. |
