For searching for a job in higher ed. without an agency, you need a list of institutions to apply to. Wikipedia gives a fair one, but it does not list schools that do not offer a B.A. (that includes vocational schools, junior colleges, etc.). I tried a baidu search in Chinese but despite my best efforts just got spam or overly itemized results- searching in Chinese is an art I have not got down.
My current job is in GZ which pays well and is very laid back, is a vocational school (or polytechnic) and cannot be found in Wikipedia's lists (it does however have a home page of course). No surprise there as there is a ton of them, many looking for teachers. (You can actually PM me if you're interested in the next term.)
I'm moving to Yunnan next term and the job hunt has begun. As I'm doing grad school research (well, still on HSK work actually), I prefer the higher ed. schools as they're less demanding (though less paying!), giving me time for study.
I will be using agencies (worked well the first time), but I would also like to send out my 'application package' to as many schools as I can, including the vocational schools et al. Could anyone here give me some tips on how to seek out these smaller institutions in Yunnan in addition to the biggies (not just Kunming) that are qualified to hire and provide Z visas? I can apply in Chinese- at least I'm at the point where I can fumble along. |

you can start here
http://www.china.org.cn/english/LivinginChina/184850.htm
try the googles, enter "yunnan vocational colleges"
if you want a specific city, try google maps. if our chinese overlords
permit, you can select a city, then search nearby, enter college, and
all the nearby schools appear. |

Great ideas. You know, I've noticed that on Google maps before but it just didn't come to mind now. Thanks.
I'm gonna check out HD DU as well! |
