|
|
Hi everyone
I realize that this is a very random question, but I was kind of hoping those of you here who have lived in Japan/Korea or who are just used to food from these countries might know of where I can find Miso for soup in Muscat?
I've searched Carrefour, Al Fair, Sultan Centre and every other major shop I can think of except Lulu and found nothing. Miso soup is my run-to food for stomach ailments and I'm really REALLY missing it.
Any help would be appreciated. Of course, I also realize it very well may not be available hereā¦ |

Does it contain pork of any form? If so check the pork section in Al Fair or the pork shop in Darsait. |

No, it is vegetarian... but it is "fermented rice" - wonder if that might affect it.
I asked some Muscat friends and they are throwing out suggestions over on Facebook. One suggested that you ask the manager at Carrefour, and he might know. Also, different Al-Fair's carry different products... Madinet Qaboos branch might be the most likely.
Too bad you don't know someone from the Japanese or Korean embassies. They would know.

I saw some miso paste at the Al Fair in MQ my first year in Oman. This was back in 2010.
If they don't have it now, just ask the management to order some. They get requests all the time from the expat community for foreign products. It shouldn't be problem to ask them to place an order. |

Try the manager at the nearby Carrefour Sydney... my friends said that he was always helpful for them. Never hurts to ask if he can order it for you.
