can anyone confirm if the The Commissioner's Office Of China's Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong SAR at the 7th Floor, Lower Block, China Resources Building, No.26, Harbor Road, Wanchai is doing Z visas for citizens of the USA? If so, will they do so for working in Guangdong where the rules are apparently strict. If not, does anyone have a location in HK for the Z? |

Well, I can only help on the location - it's on the third floor (visa office) of the China Resources Building, but you have to enter through security on the ground floor , outside, via a side entrance.
It is an easy walk from Wanchai MTR and the Wanchai Star Ferry terminal , but the overhead walkways get you into the 2nd floor of the China Resources Bldg, and there are no signs.
If your letter of acceptance says 'please present at the Embassy/Consulate in HONG KONG', then you should be OK. If it does not , I think they may not accept the application. Make sure the school specifies HK on the letter of acceptance.
Inside the visa office you are given a numbered ticket, once you have completed the visa application form , and you wait for your number to be called. Last Thursday am , there were about 20-30 people ahead in the queue.
The desk clerk/officer took my copy of the passport page, but not copies I had made of the letter of acceptance and work permit.
There is a photocopy machine and a photobooth in the visa office.
Next day service for the Z visa cost me 660 HKD, and you pay the following day (also waiting by numbered ticket , to pay, and then to collect). |

There is a parallel thread on Z visas out of HK.
HK will not (apparently) process Z visas for Guangzhou employers, but will for other provinces. |

Non Sequitur do you mean Guangdong province? That is what I am trying to figure out if they will do it or not. I read through the other thread and will look through it again. Hard to get info on this location. |

I'm pretty sure it is the province.
Poster mentions one province HK does issue Zs for. |
