For them? Last I heard, Enli was a school that farms you out to other schools and I found out 2-3 weeks later I had to have a face to face interview (which they could have told me from day 1, I could have gone and visited Tianjin instead of having it drag out).

You would most likely sign the contract with them, but work for other schools. In my case, they wanted me to pay for housing. I was willing to do that only if I worked near the school I would live near. I didn't want to pay for an apartment and have to commute long distances.

At first they had no problem with this. They sent me information and photos of several suitable apartments about 1,200-1,500 RMB / month with about 1200 housing allowance. The salary offer was good, but this doesn't mean it will be the same when you go to sign the contract. Be careful about this if you pursue schools that offer a higher salary. Make sure it is the same on paper.

After agreeing online to this, I talked with the director. She didn't know about me looking for a job and was surprised about the arrangements I made with "her" office as well as with the recruiting agency. So, we took a step back and I talked with the school more.

I demanded a schedule of classes. After this got sorted, I then asked about starting date. They wanted me to come in August. This was great, I thought. Then a week later, I found out they wanted me to come for a face to face interview. Why didn't they tell me this from day 1? Why did I have to wait 2-3 weeks waiting for the office staff to come back from vacation and wait another week for the director to call me on the phone?

Then, I asked about necessity of the face to face interview. Apparently, they want you to do a demo first at their headquarters. Not only that, they want you to teach there first.

This means what? Well, I said I wanted to live near where I worked. They avoided telling me this because they were worried I wouldn't have taken the job. During this time, I also had an offer at my current school which offered free housing and I could move in immediately also. So, I took this job instead.

If you don't care about commutes, you don't care about losing time coming and going home each day then consider this job. I got the impression it was a good school, but they did not look out for the concerns of the teacher.

At my current school I work and live mostly in the same building and I teach other classes on campus. Stores are within walking distance, and it is exactly what I was looking for.

Figure out what you are looking for. You can always go to Tianjin for a visit, I think their HQ is in the eastern part of line 9, Tanggu station. Give your demo, state your housing needs, salary desired, etc...

The school office initially tried to work with me, but then I was handed over to the accounting staff, and then the director, as well as updating the recruiter on the confusion and gaps within communication they created. No one seemed to be on the same page as me. So, I balked even though I am sure they have individually good intentions.

I worked for them 3 years ago. They send you to different schools to teach classes. They also have classes at your school. They have a good support system if you are new to China.
When I worked there they paid by the class. I think they have changed to a salary now. Its not a bad gig if you are just starting in China. I learned a lot there and made o.k. money. As a training center they are much better than E.F.
That being said I moved on to a University and never looked back. So my opinion is it's a great place for a Newbie. You can learn a lot there, make a little money and meet a lot of good connections. Then move on.
