| It borders Zhengzhou, so you'll have access to Western amenities if you need them. |

| Henan gets a bad rap on here from a lot of people, but I spent three years there (2008-11) and it's an okay place (the Zhengzhou area). The suburbs (where the colleges are) are better than being in downtown all the time, but it's fun to go into the city center occasionally; you can find pretty much anything you need. COL is pretty low on the outskirts. |

| I too taught in Henan, 20 miles south of Zhengzhou, and loved it. Good school, great students & a lot of travel opportunities. Polution was tolerable & just about everything you might need is available. My salary was RMB5000/mo & that was nearly twice my expenses. |

If there is no-one on this board who has knowledge of the city/uni, ask your FAO contact there, if you can speak /skype to a current foreign teacher there.
My feeling is that anywhere is 'tolerable' for one year - provided the school itself looks after you (decent accommodation, reasonable teaching schedule, pay on time etc). After one year it is easy to move to a 'better ' city. |
