I want to do an online MA over the next two years at a US school while I'm teaching abroad.
What is the best area to study to get a better salary? Would it be a master's in ESL, English, or education? Also how do people go about teaching testing courses where they make better money.
I also can't stand teaching really young kids and prefer adults or university students.
Any insight would be appreciated and helpful. Thank you. |

Depends on where you want to teach. If its Saudi, you may want to reconsider. |

Not for Saudi Arabia, but maybe for Dubai after I have an MA. I can teach in Saudi normally, and with the MA I could teach in Thailand and make more money, or it would open up universities in Korea, or teaching jobs in HK.
I think mostly, I want to dig in, and teach for 6 years, and then buy a condo or place where I can rent it out, and have income every month to help out with part of the bills as I get older. |

The only thing I'm familiar with is the SUNY overseas MS degree program. There is one I know of in Bangkok and it is in a lot of other countries. You would get a MS in Multidisciplinary Studies (in Foreign teaching)italics mine. The diploma just says Masters of Science, doesn't say any subject on it.

I can buy a condo in Bangkok for about $30,000 near the BTS line but just a one room. I think it would be reasonable but the return for renting wouldn't be good, just as a place to live. Something really nice would be about $200,000.
It depends on how much you can save a year. I think in Saudi or Korea if you're making a good salary you can save 2K a month. So about 22K USD.
It doesn't seem impossible. Maybe not five years. |

See "Best Master's Degrees?" (http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=102569)

You need to be more specific about which tests and for which country---maybe even post this question on the general discussion forum. Otherwise, do a basic search on the Internet for testing jobs in your target country. |
