Shocking! It just goes to show that getting qualified in Taiwan where the market is already saturated is counter-productive. In fact, the article suggests this when it notes:
The survey also showed that 80.6 percent of those who have a bachelor's degree or higher qualification think that having such degrees was no longer a guarantee of a good job, and 42.6 percent said that a higher education actually caused problems for them.
and . . .
Henry Ho, an executive of the 1111 Job Bank, said that the current job market places more emphasis on job experience, and employers generally think a doctoral degree holder is older and would ask for a higher salary.
�If the doctoral degree holder has no job experience, the businesses may not be interested in hiring him or her,� Ho said.
So why go to a real university and invest big bucks when all employers are really looking for is someone with "job experience"? |
