The last guy that taught there was popular, great with the little ones and African. The guy or girl before that was none of the three so its a no brainier. Bring us another African! We love them!

It is probably African 'English speaker', rather than ' African English' speaker, and the clue is in the salary - 5K for kindergarten is shockingly low.

I just meant they most likely had Africans working there in the past who were popular with students and staff. Maybe the last few non-Africans didn't work out.

How can this be true? I work at an adults only training center and the school refuses to hire African-American EFL teachers because "it would be too much to explain to the parents." Yea, that means they've had several African-American teachers in the past and it was a problem for the parents of adult students.

When I taught in Zhengzhou we had two African ESL teachers, one from Benin and the other (I think) from Ghana. Both had obvious accents but both were good guys and very popular with the students. I thought they did a great job & I have no doubts the unversity was encouraged to look for future African teachers.
