It is in fact weird. However it's also weird that there are so many residents from New Zealand, Canada and the UK trolling about the USA (not so much Australia) especially in the Korean forums . Long live the USA and Australia, and the advantages of being American.

Well, the advantages of being American outside of America Smile We don't get much for our tax dollars in the US.

that's just the way that it's done so I guess it doesn't surprise me anymore... and the hierarchy descends far, far below this which makes me thankful for what I do get.

Personally, if I was from the US, I'd want a heck of a lot more by way of compensation Wink

That's always been the case. If you're a Filipino, Sudanese, Palestinian, etc then you can halve those figures. Where I am (not Aramco ... hallelujah!) there's, naturally, a lot of resentment about this and one Jordanian guy bitches about it constantly while he painstakingly applies for Canadian citizenship to double his salary Wink

They always said that Americans get more because they have to pay tax back home but really it's because the Saudis love the Yanks. Hypocrisy? That's the name of the boat you sail in.

No... the US teachers do NOT have to pay taxes back home... unless they are making about 98K and only the pay above that number is taxed.

With ARAMCO, it is likely because the AM stands for America... and it is a long term business relationship.

Direct hires with ARAMCO that come from the US do pay taxes as they ALL make over the upper limit of the Income Exemption. However, ARAMCO do offer an offset on that amount.

I repeat... it is only on the amount over the annual limit. So if they make $105K, they will only pay tax on the approximate $5K... which would be nominal - and complaints about it would make them look ridiculous. Laughing
