The rainy season is in full effect in the central region. How do you cope? Work more? Sleep more? Take a trip? I feel like a somnambulist in these day long grey skies.

After last year's drought I think this year is going to be nasty.

Worst part is getting around if you have to. The natives have a website that posts pictures of the local flooding, and of course you can see it in all its glory if you are out there. Gawd, the water is SO nasty, not sure I would even call it water. Uggh. So many of the natives just go for it. Man, I DO NOT want to drive MY beautiful xe thru that stuff, nor do I really want to fill my shoes with it either. I see "water" with a very nasty froth on it, looks like something from a b grade science fiction movie that would burn your leg off or something. Yuch.

We seem to be getting thru it in HCMC this year, rain is pretty much daily, but seems we only get a REALLY big one about once or twice a week. Watching from a high building, you can see that it is not really covering the whole city all at once, it is just pouring here and there. The low lying areas are worst of course. The locals just keep going on with their lives, though they do tend to wait it out if it is really heavy. I go in early just in case, I hate driving thru 6 inches or more of that, and I REALLY hate having wet feet all evening.

If it's really bad, I drive to work with my shirt on the top half and shorts and flip flops on the bottom half, with my trousers and shoes in my bag. I also keep a small towel at work, just in case. It's interesting to see how allergic to rain everyone is in this country though. If it's raining, you can expect at least a quarter of your students not to show up ime.

This year does seem worse to me. It seems that it only rains when I go to work. It often begins to rain heavily just after a few moments after I start driving. It reminds me of the occasional summers back home where it was nice all week and then rained on the weekend. Annoying but what can you do? Buy a car? Take a taxi? LOL

The rainy season sucks but at least the weather is cooler.
I am prone to getting sick during the rainy season but there are also many factors to cause you to catch a cold here.
