I will be landing in BKK in one week.
I plan on sending a few resumes and such before arrival to the big chains, and going on foot thru siam square once there to each school to speak in person about job opps.
About me:
25, native speaker from U.S, has a B.A, has one plus years teaching experience but no cert.
seeking: government school, 9-5, weekends off, 40,000 per month...
Any suggestions or contacts to assist my "job search" would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello there,
My advice is just come to Thailand.....finding a job teaching English here is no problem.....that is if money is not your major concern. Good luck! |

How about 30,000? I think you won't make more than that. Government schools don't pay 40000 anyway.
You might try the job section on the Ajarn website. Avoid any recruiters that require you to pay money. The schools pay the recruiter fee. |

Siam Square was a place to go about 10 - 20 years ago for those without teaching experience to look for work in various shop house language schools. Not sure how many are still there. I guess a few are, but they mostly have evening and weekend work, which you say you don't want.
There aren't any government schools there. Check the web as plumpy nut advises, contact some schools directly by e-mail and see what kind of response you get. Upon arrival, be prepared to spend hours travelling around BKK and environs to interviews and to hand out more resumes to schools that don't use the internet.
Also, note that many parts of Thailand are currently flooded and the situation may get worse this month until the Rainy Season ends. It shouldn't be a major problem but keep your eye on the news so you know what to expect. |
