The Al Ain Music Festival 2015 got off to a good start
last Friday night with some more fine performances by the
local teachers involved. Smile

The November edition of "Oasis Living" -
which came out today, strangely enough,
features extensive coverage of the festival's schedule;
news of other live music concerts to be held in Al Ain; and
interviews with a couple of local music teachers.

For those teachers who are considering a move to the U.A.E.,
and are weighing up location preferences,
"Oasis Living" is well worth perusing.

How does the Al Ain -based expat's lifestyle compare with that of
the expat in Abu Dhabi city and/or Dubai?
Well, the current edition is available at:-
http://www.myoasisliving.com/digital_version/nov_2015/index.html

The Abu Dhabi Classics 2015/16 series continues to bring great live musical performances to Al Ain... Smile

The next concert in this series is on 3rd February. Gidon Kremer and Martha Argerich will be performing with the Kremerata Baltica in the Municipality Theatre. Several more will follow in the months ahead.

https://abudhabievents.ae/en/Pages/martha-argerich-gidon-kremer-with-kremerata-baltica-in-al-ain.aspx

And videos of last November´s Al Ain Music Festival are now available for viewing on the festival´s youtube channel.
See if you can spot a few of the locally-based teachers in these performances! Smile

The China Philharmonic Orchestra,
with their renowned cellist, Jian Wang,
are scheduled to perform at the UAEU's Great Hall on 10th May. Smile

http://abudhabiclassics.ae/en/events/china.philharmonic.orchestra.with.long.yu.tchaikovsky.symphony.nr.5.aspx

This concert is the final major event of the remarkable on the
Abu Dhabi Classics series 2015/16 listing to be held in Al Ain.
This wonderful series has brought orchestras from India, Germany, England, and Spain, plus other world-class ensembles,
to perform in the Garden City over the course of the last 6 months or so.

Let's hope that there will be more Abu Dhabi Classics series to follow!

Unfortunately, the two concerts to be performed by the China Philharmonic Orchestra in the U.A.E.
- including the UAEU, Al Ain, one posted above- have now been cancelled!
Sad

On a more positive note, anyone interested in the broader cultural scene across the U.A.E.
can take advantage of a lively new magazine called "Magpie" at:-
http://www.magpie.ae/

Its useful listings sections are to be found on its back pages. Smile

I've learnt that several local teachers will be performing on stage again this coming November
in the community-based Al Ain Music Festival 2016 concerts. Smile

One or two special guests have also been invited over from outside of the U.A.E..
And, as usual with the AAMF, a range of genres will be featured
in a bid to broaden the festival's appeal.

No doubt details of these concerts will soon be appearing at
www.alainmusicfestival.com and on the festival's Facebook page.

Although the new Dubai Opera House obviously isn't located in Abu D, there are some wonderful performances lined up.

It's not going to be all opera, opera, opera!
James Morrison performs at Dubai Opera on 7th October.

The Abu Dhabi Classics series 2016/17 began earlier this month.
It includes a performance by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra
next February...

Several of these concerts and events will be held in Al Ain.

Next month the Al Ain Music Festival returns for its 4th edition.
Again, locally based teachers will be amongst the performers.
This year's headline act, though, is Natty Wailer, one of Bob Marley's mates...

Earlier in this thread I mentioned that the musician, Jason Carter, was seeking out retired Gulf pearl divers to participate in his "Grain of Sand" project. That project has now been completed successfully, and its film had its premiere during last December´s Dubai International Film Festival.

Jason Carter was asked about the thinking behind his project by Nina Rothe during an interview for the "Huffington Post"...

Presently, the new Abu Dhabi Classics 2018/18 series is about to commence...

And, back in Al Ain, the La Dolce Vita venue - www.ladolcevita.ae -
has now become the new home for the Al Ain Music Festival. Smile
