The search for next year continues! Give me a place with no roommate or give me a blanket under a bridge!

- I snore.
- I'm messy.
- I wake up too early.
- I've had too many roommates in the past.
- I'm sad because a few of the jobs I've been offered fit well with me.
- I'm married.
- I'm not accepting anything that says I share (not that anyone is forcing me to).

Yeah, to hell with roommates!

- I can't stand messy people
- I enjoy waking up at 11
- I want to use the computer whenever the hell I feel like it
- I have to blast the Stones 24 hours a day, especially while cleaning
- I like smoking indoors (hey I live on the 4th floor)!
- I'm single

By the way, kimo, I think you forgot to vote in your own goddamn poll.

I for one would never work for a company that had me live with a roommate. This is not the army and it is not college. I guess for some younger people it would be ok, but "been there, done that." I don't need a roommate ever again. Especially in China where you are not exactly able to choose who you will live with.

So far eight respondents and eight 'no ways'.

What if the maid were a vixen from Trafalmador, or you found your roommate was whitjohn with camera, girls, free web design and all the fun included?

I shared before and didn't like it. Now I live alone and it's better, though I might look for a peruvian roomate when I move because I really want to learn the language.

No chance!
I'm a lazy *beep*. I hardly ever clean. I'm single. I want to be able to come and go as I please. At whatever time of night I want. I want to bring someone home without feeling guilty.

Maybe I could share with a guy of a similar age with similar interests but that would be about it.

I would consider it. I've only had a roommate not of my own choosing when in college but it worked out so well we moved off-campus after freshman year and stayed together the full four years. Not having a bad experience, it isn't something I would consider a deal-breaker. Though personally, I don't care much for living alone so that might have something to do with it.

If I had to live with someone I couldn't stand however, I'm sure my opinion would change.

Chalk up a conditional 'no' vote here.

I had a roomate in university, just for the experience, and I was lucky that we got along well. That made all the difference.

If I know who I'll be rooming with and we get along, that's great. If it's a random assignment where I don't yet know the person, you can forget about it.

In fact the latter remind me of boot camp and related high school 'retreats' that I was forced to go on awhile ago. We had to stay two nights near Vancouver in an island camp, girls in one cabin, guys in the others. Needless to say I got no sleep the first night, and I was so tired the second that I slept right through a party.

first job - had a roomate. this was a large flat. really delux in a western compound, SAT tv and all paid by the school. we each had our own bedroom and bathroom. the kitchen and living area was HUGE. plus a seperate room with two desks we used as an office. balconey front and back. the only "problem" was the roomies "friends" who usually stayed for weeks on end, were absolute PIGS, ate the food, drank the beer, , ,well, you get the idea. now the place I am in is not as posh, no SAT tv or all the western goodies but I can wanderaround in any condition I like. didn't realize how much I liked "my own space." o, yes, the posh place had an anyi - i.e. the company spy - I'll do my own cleaning, thank you!

I'd probably prefer living alone, but I wouldn't really have a problem with having a roommate if I couldn't avoid it, (especially if it meant larger accomodations). I'm kinda messy, but other than that, I've probably had a total of around 20 roommates since I started college, and I've gotten along well with almost all of them. Living somewhere where I don't really know the language and there may not be too many people nearby who can speak my own, having a roommate to talk to and hang out with might even be beneficial.
