What I like about it is the format. As with accommodation booking websites you're asked to evaluate an employer/employment in terms of pros and cons and also offer advice to management. As a result, reviews tend to be more objective and the advice to management is usually very constructive and in everyone's best interest and employers, in addition to using the site to advertise, are invited to respond to evaluations. Whether they choose to or not they can't easily ignore them, especially the more objective among them which may influence prospective applicants.
Is it perfect? No. Does it prevent employers from posing as employees only to improve their rating? No, but I think if they try that it'll be obvious and encourage those who might not otherwise post a review to counter such behaviour---Unless of course you think the site allows employers to influence what reviews get posted |

I've seen Glassdoor's reviews, and unless the employer is a language school/institute or a k-12 or international school, it's not particularly useful. For those of us who teach in university settings with umpteen academic departments, it's a hit-or-miss to find reviews specific to a uni's English foundation year program. |
