(1) Are there any MEd programs in Canada that lead to public school certification? I've heard rumours of such programs. Up to now, I've assumed that only BEd programs led to certification.
(2) What about any MEd programs in the US that lead to certification? I've heard of a Buffalo university that offers this but can't find anything about it.

Yes, but it's not an MEd - McGill has an MA in Teaching which comes with public school teacher certification. You can read about it below:
http://www.mcgill.ca/dise/progs/matl/
There is a TESL specialization. So far, it is the only one in Canada, but it is a solid program. The TESL specialization requires functional French though, because you can only be placed in francophone school districts. There is no ESL in the anglophone school districts due to language laws weeding out any non-anglophones. |

Almost all education schools in New York State offer certification at the MEd level. What certification are you looking for? If its K-12 ESL it is 1 1/2-2 1/2 years full time, depending on the school and if you are looking for dual certification or not. |

You must mean at SUNY - Buffalo.
I have heard of people from Quebec who studied at Saint Michael's College in Vermont, but that is for the MA in TESOL. The certification part is an additional 18 credits. |
