I wonder what the approximate salary range for a Westerner for this type of position would be? This is with a commercial-chain language institute, not a university. |

Given that you're asking about the salary for a westerner, I suspect the employer is likely targeting a Saudi national or a (qualified) Arabic and English-speaking expat for this level of position. |

I was offered a related position at Wall Street School of English in Jeddah about five years ago, but turned it down after 2 seconds. The pay was around 16,000sr a month and came with a rent free apt. The main reason I turned it down was due to the fact that I would have to "manage" the Saudi staff (lab support and customer service). I might have taken the position if I only had to manage my fellow teachers. The position is called "Service Manager". The main manager only works on sales and manages the sales team. Anybody that has been here for a while knows that it is very, very hard to hold any Saudi National accountable for his/her actions at work. Somebody doesn't show up for work? No problem. Take a two hour lunch? Sure. Why not? One time, the fine folks working the phones at the customer service counter put the phones on "hold" for a few hours while they played video games. I promise that happened. If anyone goes into any director-related position here with a "Western management mindset", you will go crazy and end up quitting, or getting fired. Teach. Make money. Go home. |
