My name is Carlos and i'm a 26 year old college student who is about to graduate with a bachelors in History. I also have a TEFL certificate and am a native english speaker. I plan to teach in Rio De Janiero in March. My question is does each consulate have their own requirements for documents to apply for a tourist visa? I live in Chicago and I saw their requirements and thankfully it does not ask for hotel confirmation. I plan to just buy a round trip ticket either for a month or two and obviously not make the flight back. Is that usually how everyone does it? In case they do ask for hotel confirmation and i just book a round trip for a week or two will immigration stamp my visa for 90 days still or just shorter? Thanks for the help. |

Hi
I entered on a tourist visa a long time ago 7 or 8 years so things might have changed. I did not need to show a hotel reservation. I even went on a one way ticket but I did have a letter from a friend inviting me stay with him in Brazil.
I am pretty sure all tourist visas are for 90 days.
