Hey everyone I was hoping someone might have had this issue themselves and can offer some good ideas. Some of my students have told me they are sad during the holidays because they miss their families back home.
What I'd like to do is make some sort of video where the class can say or write something and then we can post it to youtube.
Has anyone ever done this before? I'd love to see some examples or get some good input to help make this as meaningful as possible.
Thanks. |

You didn't state how old your students are---if they're studying at university---but generally, international students celebrate their particular religious/national holidays together within their own ethnic communities. By the way, feeling sad around holidays is normal even for those whose families are in the same country.
Frankly, if the students' relatives have the ability to view a pre-taped YouTube video, then surely they can communicate in real time via Skype with homesick family members who are studying abroad. |

I teach in an adult ed program. I'm sure they can skype or talk on the phone. The point is to give them a chance to do something special and let their loved ones see them in thee new environment. |

Youtube videos are a great idea. I don't Skype much, but I have a private channel for my family abroad to watch videos of my kids. It would be a good way of using drama/media as a class project. |
