Hi,
I'm really keen to move into tertiary sector. I don't have an MA in ESL, but do have one in English Literature. I have a CELTA and experience. I'm also studying for the DELTA module 1 but I don't expect to have the entire DELTA for quite a while. I know that the first thing I should do is probably get the MA, but I simply can't afford it at the moment.
I'm curious to hear from those teaching in a university or college. What were your quals on entering the job? I'm also looking for ideas as to where I would get a uni job with my scant qualifications - and if you know of a uni and were willing to share the name, please let me know! I've been looking on all the job sites but they all want the MA. I'd rather avoid China or Saudi (which are the locations where I probably actually would get a uni job!) |

Most of us teaching EFL at the university level have related MAs, so that's not likely to help you determine where you can get a uni job with your MA in English Lit. However... Qatar Community College posted an ad at TESOL Arabia for instructors with grad degrees in English Lit. That might be a possibility if you also have the required experience. |
