If all you're worried about is staying legal until you return home, get an L visa to finish out the term. In fact, if your boss has no intention of rehiring you, you may get the bum's rush and be brought to the PSB (or whoever issues visas and permits in your city) to have an L visa placed in your passport quite soon so you can't seek work elsewhere.

If you really don't think you'll be renewed, start looking for another job NOW and be sure that the school can get a residence permit when you find a job.

Simple. Procure a new employer and have your work credentials and visa/resident permit transferred to your new employer PRIOR to the end of employment and resident permit expiration.

Otherwise, go to the PSB and change your visa to an L visitor visa PRIOR to the expiration of your resident permit.

That will then allow you to remain in-country for 30 days. You will then have to leave China. In addition, should you obtain new employment after having been issue the L visa, you will have to return to your home country to obtain a new Z visa to return for legal employment.

Choose your route.

Why would you possibly need to get a new passport? What kind of fraud are you intending to commit. Deceit of some kind if you think that that is a solution to any of this. Besides, you cannot accomplish such a thing in the time frame mentioned. Besides again, the system knows who you are, despite your new passport number. Registering with the PSB of a new passport requires prior passport numbers, etc. to issue the REQUIRED entry stamp into your new passport, etc. Why you think attempting to defraud anyway is reasonable is the bigger issue.

Fact is, you are asking this question a mere week before your legal status expires. Why? This should have been resolved a month or two or more ago ....
