I am running out of ideas for my adult students who want discussion lessons. I usually use this site www.breakingnewsenglish.com

It has topical news articles accompanied by vocab exercises and discussion questions.

Which websites with materials for adults do other people on Dave's ESL use?

I get my students to choose the materials. For a 90 minute class we look at 2 sources. I don't place any restrictions on them, news articles, cartoons, song lyrics, even just a photograph. As long as they can explain to the class why they chose it. I always have a couple of spares that I chose, just in case. And if they pick something that needs a vocab sheet or something, I just carry it over to the next class so I can prep it.

Similar to HLJHLJ, I sometimes have students choose the materials, but I have them choose a topic that they are interested in (some topic that is in the news, a current event like Olympics or world cup, or even just a topic that they are interested in), then for each lesson, they bring an article about that topic. Current topics are good because there is often something new about it in the news. This is good because a lot of the same vocabulary comes up, so students get a chance to have more exposures to those words. It also gives students some background knowledge about the topic, which can help when discussing new developments in it. Sometimes students get bored of their topic, so it's good to have some flexibility for them to switch topics if they want. I also make sure to bring an article or topic of my own also.

I've also used textbooks that focus on discussion of issues, such as Impact Issues.
