Has anyone heard anything about what's going on with the American Language Academy these days?
After completing my TEFL certification last April, I interviewed with them in Madrid. They rang me up in July. The person I spoke with said something about as the financial crisis had gotten worse, they weren't able to sponsor their shortlist of candidates for full work permits but that they were launching a new work/study program that coming autumn. It sounded like that program would have more or less the same work terms as had been discussed in April, but that candidates would be required to complete coursework during their 10 month contract.
Three weeks of phone calls and emails later, I got a call informing me that "this new program was not a good fit for all prospective candidates" and that the program had been "postponed".
Anyone know if they just lost their ability to sponsor non-EU citizens? Or if that ability's been frozen for the foreseeable future, or? |
