Hi, I realise this isn't strictly job-related, but it's a kind of last port of call. I'm currently working on an ELS contract in Azerbaijan (which I'm enjoying by the way, I'd recommend it.)
I'm planning a trip to Georgia at New Year and I considered visiting Armenia also for a few days before returning to Baku complete my contract.
I wondered if anyone here had taught in Azerbaijan and done this? I realise that tourists can travel from Armenia proper (not NK) through Georgia and onward to Azerbaijan without too much hassle.
However, I suspect the authorities may take a dimmer view of someone employed to work in Azerbaijan doing this- I'd be returning using my residency card. So far I've been unable to get any info about this and I'm in a dilemma.
Does anyone have any experience of this?

I never did it and of my Azeri co-workers don't know of any who did either.

My students were uniformly anti-Armenia so that might be something to consider as well.

What does your employer say?

I'll ask around about it and let you know if I hear anything definitive or even interesting.

They don't seem to know! I'd be surprised if I was the first person to think about it though. If I don't get any concrete answer, then I'll err on the side of caution and not go.
Although many of my students are anti-Armenian, there are a few who are more objective about it, so maybe there's hope for a reconciliation some day! Not holding my breath mind...

Oh, several thought about it. And, on reflection, I do know one person who has done it but that was quasi-governmental/NGO work and required a discussion with the "authorities".

I talked to three Azeris so far and they are pretty sure that there is no land entry into Karabakh from Azerbaijan but, as you say no one really "knows".
