Hi everyone, I just received a wonderfully generous offer from a Ukrainian family in Newcastle. (Gulp.) This amazing offer includes paid accommodation, and reads like this:

I sent a rather guarded response:

Now, he won't provide any information that could identify him, and he already has my latest CV as I only posted it a few days ago (my pic is up there too). Sorry if I'm wasting everyone's time, but it seems that the world has turned into scam-central over the years.
Also, he's immediately offered the post to me without any direct conversation.
What do you guys think? |

It's too good to be true. I wonder if this one's about identity theft being that he wants a full CV and photograph.
I have a feeling that he resides in Newcastle-upon-Niger, not Newcastle-upon-Tyne. |

Seriously, thanks for the heads up. I had a very strong feeling not to send my CV and my photo to that guy.
Just a warning to everyone. Since I posted my CV and photo to the web site www.eslteachersboard.com I've started receiving lots of junk email on an otherwise very clean email account.
It occurred to me that many of the jobs posted for ESL do not use domain names in their email. Many of the "recruiters" out there use gmail, hotmail, yahoo mail, and others. I never respond to those ads, because it could be anyone and there's no way to confirm their identity. |

| Any time I receive unsolicited emails that seem dubious, I copy and paste them into the Google search bar. If they're already on webs sites dedicated to exposing scams, they appear in the search results. |

Lukasz is Polish spelling. Anglophone spelling should be Lukash. Do people in Ukraine even have the name Lukash/Łukasz? Although some from western Ukraine do render their names in Roman script according to Polish orthography, it smells like a sturgeon that left the comfort of the Dniepr several days ago and's been sitting in the sun.
When I get emails which are obviously scams, I like to write back with obscenities;) |
