I have been teaching elementary art for 8 years in South Carolina (United States). I am National Board Certified, my school's "Teacher of the Year" and I have a passport. I would LOVE to teach in Italy for a month in the summer of 2014. I am having trouble finding something for short term, that does not cost $. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would like to:
teach english and/or art for one month in Italy (hopefully July)
I am also open to being a nanny in Italy
have the opportunity to travel to Greece for a couple of days
be able to afford the trip! (it would be nice to get paid, even if only a little bit)

Hi Olivia

It's going to be difficult to work legally because you're a US citizen and in theory, you'll need a visa to work in Italy. (Something not many Italian employers will want to do.)

You might be able to get (unpaid) work as a volunteer though. Check back through this forum - somebody posted something about doing volunteer theatre work for kids camps through a cultural association. That would probably be legal (though unpaid).

Travelling to Greece shouldn't be too much of a problem. You can get ferries from ports on the Adriatic Coast. Bear in mind that fares will probably cost more in summer. Give yourself more than two days as well - I'm not sure how long the ferry crossings take, but you probably won't want to turn round and come back as soon as you get there!
