Does anyone have any current, first-hand info on the situation here? For example, total salary package for a related MA and 5+ years in PYPs in KSA; type of accommodation (if applicable), quality of work environment, commuting distance, etc. Looking to transition to UAE. Thanks. |

I'd like to know the same. They are advertising on TESOLArabia and I'd like to know if applying with them is worth the trouble. |

If you are over 45 they will not hire you. They are doubling their capacity and building a new hostel for later in the year. They are not only lowering the age of the teachers but of the students also which basically means that the maturity/attainment level of the students will also/has also drop(ped). The higher up the chain you go there the less people know about education or are interested in it.Even though the medium of instruction is English they have a cover operation called "Basic"to 'improve (aka 'massage")the figures to show the bosses how numbers are rising). No native speaker will touch this section with a barge-pole (cos they students want "instant translation")so it goes to ....well- the non 'European"/non Arabic(but of course arabic speaking) teachers. The degree of 'entitlement and expectation"(to and of a job)has risen as the standards have dropped. |
