I am curious - Has anyone on these boards managed to secure full time, non - seasonal ELT work in Ireland, even on a contractual basis? If so, I would be interested in hearing how and where!

Forget about the how. The real question should be why. With super high unemployment, especially among young adults, can't think why a foreigner would ever be offered a job.

I know a few highly-qualified Irish teachers with good gigs. Like in other tight job markets, they got the work by
1. having much better than average qualifications
2. knowing local people - having a local reputation
3. luck

And no visa issues, obviously!

Thanks for the replies guys. Actually, I guess it's 'where' I'm really interested in! Do you by any chance have any idea where your Irish acquaintances work Spiral78? Third level instituitions or language schools? Dublin or elsewhere?

Both at universities. I think private language schools would be similar to those in the UK or North America - chock-full of locals.
