|

I am currently teaching in Beijing. I have a valid and up-to-date Resident Permit (RP) and FEC. My contract will expire on July 15/14 and I'm thinking of changing jobs and relocating to Shandong Province.
Is it a "simple matter" of getting a letter of release from my current school (even though I will finish the contract) and transferring my RP and FEC to the new school in Shandong that will then register my info at the local PSB?
I do not want to have to return to Canada and start the whole visa process again, given the new laws that Beijing passed last July, ex. getting a criminal records check. |

The RP is not "transferred", you will need to get a new one. If you get the new RP before the old one expires, the same visa is valid. |

The FEC will also be new, not transferred, I believe.
Some places in Shandong , like Qingdao , require a Crim Records Check. (see other threads on this).
Again , terminology is confusing , but your school should provide not just a release letter , but a letter of recommendation on the standard form.
These kind of transfers are fairly common , and easy if your new FAO is competent, but get your new school to tell you exactly what they need (for example: who will cancel the existing FEC, former school or new school), and make sure they are aware of your contract end-date, and visa expiry date. |
