I left Vietnam for a few months and am now back trying to get all my documents ready to get another work visa to be a teacher here.

My degree, and teaching qualification were notarised and certified first time round. I'm now trying to sort out my new/up-to-date UK criminal record check before I hand all the documents over to the university...

The British Embassy are refusing to certify the Basic Disclosure criminal conviction certificate because it has no signature on the document. They will 'witness' my signature and a statement that saying the document is genuine. But is that enough? Does anyone have experience of being in a similar situation?

Or will the Vietnamese authorities reject this? And will I have to send the original CRC document to the UK for a solicitor (back there) to notarise it (or even have to fly back to have it notarised in person), and then have the notarised document certified at the Embassy?

I hope that all makes sense!

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated?

Yes, witnessing a signature is fine. I did it. It's a bit of a joke to be honest. Basically the Vietnamese government don't have a clue what they're doing and as long as there's a British government stamp on the document, that's enough, even if the stamp is in no way endorsing the document.

Yeah, you have to write a brief statement saying that it's s genuine document and then sign it. They'll tell you roughly what to write, but the wording is up to you.
