So my work visa will expire this July and my ARC(gaijin card) expires in 2016.
My question. If I choose to not turn in the ARC when I leave( I don't cancel my visa upon departure), but my visa expires later this year, will I still be able to use my ARC later if I decide to return to Japan and get a new job with a new visa?
I'm thinking this would make getting a new job easier since there will be no need to go through the procedures of getting a new ARC, making things a bit faster. |

It might actually make things more complicated. The new ARC is issued at the airport when you arrive and get your proper visa stamped into your passport. Having an existing ARC and an expired visa is proof that you didn't leave the country 'properly'. It's unlikely to make things faster and might make them a lot slower. |

Ok. I may cancel my visa and turn in my ARC then. |
