If the job was that good, why are they focusing on the island, lifestyle and environment so much?
Not saying it's bad. |

I don't know man. The DOS position never appealed to me. Every dos I've seen has been caught between the Chinese and Foreign staff...getting crapped on by both sides. At 100 an hour I would not even think about it. That's damn near the bottom of the pay scale for simply teaching oral English. And that's what they want to pay the dos.
A previous employer asked me to take over as dos and I told him flat out he could not afford it. He was gracious enough to let it go at that but fwiw..I think that position must pay upwards of 25k to be considered at all by rational folks. Oh...and I can pretty much promise you that 30 hours won't happen. You'd likely be putting in more time...perhaps not in a classroom but time is time.
Students from...12 months to 12+...whatever the plus means...
And it's a 9-5 gig with a 3 hour nap time in the middle.
Unless I'm missing something, this sounds like a terrible job.

Starting each day in Haikou, the capital city of the island of Hainan, I always have a smile on my face. The sun is shining and the forecast says it will hit 34 degrees Celsius today. Whether you are on foot, bike, bus, or riding a scooter like me to our campus in Haikou, your journey into work will be a new adventure each day with many unique and interesting things to discover. On my way into work I pass by the park and see small groups of people practicing Tai Chi, as they do every morning. In many ways Haikou is like the cities back home with sky scrapers, shopping malls, and fast food joints, but with much nicer weather, beaches, and streets lined with palm trees! |
^^ Glad to see they aren't aren't laying it on thick...
Give it a pass.
You could earn a comparable salary by taking any random crap paying Uni gig and work weekends and/or nights at a private school if you need to.
....and close to zero responsibility.
Uni - 5k - 16 hours maybe
Mills - 7200 ...12 hours per week at 150/hour
Something like that is doable for just about anyone who just got off the plane. You'll work up to better paying gigs and private classes. |

Also, do you really want to have to have "Happy Town International English" on your resume for the foreseeable future? Think long term. |
