Hey there~ I'm waiting what could be a long time, but also I notice the new year's thang~ But I wonder if anyone has ever seen all things signed, sealed, delivered, then bam~ Visa-denied~

Reason being, cost of flights. Buy early, save $, wait, higher price.

Just thinking about it.

Anyone for a "Wow, yea, no worries" comment or a "Definitely wait for the visa" opinion.

Thanks in advance~

Just me, but I always wait for the visa. The employer normally refunds the cost of the flight anyway.

You'll have plenty more itchy moments - believe me.

Wait for the LETTER of INVITATION. If it doesn't arrive within 3 weeks of your starting date, bail or start screaming. A lot of people worry about LOI arrival unnecessarily. Schools don't want people showing up too soon because they don't want the visa to expire before the school can get around to applying for an RP.

If you already applied for your visa, check with the consulate (if you applied in person) or with the courier (if you had someone else process your application). Your visa won't be denied if you received a letter of invitation and you have no history or run-ins with Chinese law.

Unless, of course, you had a jerk of an FAO in the past.

Thanks for your thoughts all around. Just wanted to share that the documents landed soon enough and I'll be finishing up the process this coming week.
Cheers all!
