A posting earlier this year stated that Novosibirsk has few foreigners and no expat "community" ... all the more reason to get together and meet. I've only been here for two months, but, this is a great city! |

I'm down the road in Berdsk, right near the railway station. What are doing on Friday or Saturday? |

Hey, I'd be keen to meet up when I arrive in October. Until then... |

I'd be delighted if I knew what and where this establishment is, and also suitable times to arrive. Cole |

Hi Novos people. I'm having occasional problems getting onto the forum, and occasionally the site as a whole. Dave knows about it. I was just wondering: do you guys have any internet problems relating to access to eslcafe?
Also, if you are having a meet-up, it would be nice to come along. We'd need to be firm about times, however, as I live some miles away from the city. Saturdays and Sundays are good. |

Hey Cole,
I'm still in exotic Manchester at the moment, so I'm unsure about the connectivity issues that you mention. Would be very keen to meet with fellow ex-pats however. I arrive in Novosibirsk on the 4th of October, so I'll be available the following weekend if that suits?
Best,
Mark |

Halitosis, body odour, appalling social skills - I thought none of these things showed up on-line?!
Well, I promise I don't have any of the above - (or so my mother tells me) so if there are people here in Novosibirsk who would like to meet one weekend, I would be delighted to do so.
The original poster is right, this is really is a great city. If anyone on this thread still wants to get a gathering together then please let me know.
All the best |

I've been spending most weekends this summer at a friend's dacha, so I'll wait until the weather is not dacha-fiable ...

Sorry for changing the subject slightly.
For people who haven't been to Novosibirsk, I heartily recommend this city. By conventional standards, the architecture is pretty grim (I happen to like the Soviet style) but it has a lot going for it. I'm fairly well travelled but the people are some of the warmest, interesting people I've met anywhere. There are many universities here, so the population is predominantly young, ambitious and dynamic.
There's an intangible positivity and spirit about this place, that I associate with a city comfortable with its identity. I'm very 'wet behind the ears' here, and of course the above is totally subjective...I don't work for the Siberian tourist board either. If you're considering this city, I would urge you to come. |
