|
|
Last night I was trawling the Bae job site and thought I came across a job as an instructor that required an MA. I couldn't find it today and instead found a teacher's position that required BA plus CELTA.
Was I having visions or does this instructor position requiring an MA exist? I applied for the teacher's job but with my MA plus DipTESOL I'd obviously prefer to apply for more advanced positions, if poss.
Anyone know if Bae offers teachers educational allowances for dependents? Any good schools around?
Thanks |

I think in Riyadh you require an MA whereas in Dammam you just need the BA. Riyadh was advertising on TEFL.com as was Dammam a while ago
Not sure about the family status. There is a waiting list for accommodation. I was quoted at least a year. Education I don't know. |

| I think there are schools on the compounds. But the wait for family status can be years. |

The webpage for TESOL Arabia's job fair lists an ad for MA-degreed teachers for BAE. However, only Aussies can apply. But if you go to saudicareers.co.uk, under "The roles," you'll see a link for "Teachers/Instructors." That should answer your question. |

| I was curious about this position as well so I'm trying to apply online but the website is very glitchy, especially when searching for past employers from the auto-complete fields. Anyone else having the same issue? |

| New staff are being recruited primarily from the UK. While base salaries haven't gone down, allowances have been cut. Food allowance and 'houseboy/laundry' allowance have now gone. A 9 hour day is in place and most staff are currently teaching either 5 or 6 50 minute classes out of a total of 7. The teaching day is from 6.30 am to 3 pm. A 1hr 20min break is held until 1.10. Cutting Wrists is the course book. In house stuff for skills. |

| The average day at that place sounds yucky. The pay has to be very, very good. I would bet that the students are just sitting in their desks staring into space at 6:30am. One would have to get up around 5am, five days a week to work there. I never wanted to be a farmer - that's why I went into ESL. I'm not making fun of the outfit but, the 12 hours a week that I "work" does wonders for the post-morning, pre-afternoon, and early evening naps that I take. |
