|
|
I am considering applying for a college position in Oman but a little put of by the prospect of obtaining these! It would be ok if I had one or two schools, but I have done quite a few short term contracts over the last few years in many places!
Has anyone had similar difficulty? Would a couple of references suffice of are the Omani government very strict about this? |

Depends on what you're applying for, the certificates prove your experience and this can substantially affect the salary you receive. |

Employment certificates are different from letters of reference. Normally they want to see 3 letters of reference... and if you want credit for your experience, you will need employment certificates. Since this is needed to meet minimal experience requirements for hiring and also for placing one on the pay scale, they are certainly useful. That said, part-time or very short term contracts are likely not helpful.

But how would somebody obtain 'employment certificates' from an overseas country where such documents are a totally alien concept? Is this an authorized document in any way? |

Two forms of employment verification are acceptable: an employment certificate or an official letter (on letterhead, signed, etc.) from each previous employer stating, at minimum, the employee's employment start/end dates and job title. |
